Heavy Snowfall in Karnah, Admin shuts road connectivity
 
Karnah, Jan 30 : Authorities on Monday suspended traffic movement on the road connecting Karnah with the district headquarter in northern Kashmir amid fresh snowfall.

An official said that it has been snowing at Sadhana Pass since yesterday evening and as a precautionary measure the traffic movement on the road has been suspended.

As per the official record, 4.5 ft of snow was recorded at Sadhna top today while plain areas in the Sub division have received 5 to 10 inches of snow.

“Due to the recent snowfall in the area, the Karna- Kupawara road has been closed for precautionary measures, If there will be an improvement in the weather then hopefully traffic movement will be allowed, the official said.

Tehsildar Karnah, Syed Eyad Qadri said that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and is providing all possible help to the people of far flung areas.

He also said that the Karnah administration has established helpline numbers to facilitate the general public seeking help during any emergency arising due to inclement weather, rain and snowfall.
