DC assures full support to youth in self employment ventures
Holds Grievances Redress Camp at Kalakote, inspects progress on dev projects
 
RAJOURI AUGUST 09: Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today assured full support to youth in taking up self employment ventures.

Speaking at a public grievance redress camp here at Kalakote, the DC asked local youth to avail benefits under self-employment for establishing Dairy farming , Horticulture, Sericulture, Transport and other sectors. He said willing youth will be facilitated through credit linkage under various self employment schemes and provided necessary training for entrepreneurship and trade skills.

A large number of people attended the Camp held at tehsil headquarter. The camp was convened for on spot resolving of public issues concerning development and public service delivery.

Shortage of staff in schools and health institutions, poor condition of roads, non-payment under MGNREGA and SBM, delay in release of relief compensation for damaged houses and crops and livestock lost in landslides, hail and thunderstorms, damaged irrigation canals, inadequate drinking water supply, underfunding of kalakote municipality, Pendency of Old Age Pension, inadequate infrastructure in Govt schools and delay in repair of damaged buildings of Govt offices were some of the issues highlighted in the public meeting.

Speaking on the occasion the DDC said concerted efforts are underway to develop infrastructure in Education, Health, Roads, Power, Rural Development, PHE and other sectors for making available basic amenities to public for a quality life. “Projects in the likes of Rajouri-Kalakote-Siot and Kalakote-Moghla roads, Rs 6 Cr Degree College, Receiving Station, Rs 3.10 Cr Dhanwa bridge, WSS Tatapani, Rs. 1.10 Cr Tourism project at Tatapani etc when completed, will give a major flip to development in the region”, the DDC said.

While responding to complaint of delay in payments, the DDC said Rs 60 Lakh will be released within 3 days for clearing liabilities under SBM. He also informed about Swach Survekshan Gramin and called upon the public for overwhelming participation in it.

Regarding loss of livestock of nomadic families on way to higher reaches of Kashmir, the DDC said the administration will work out possibility of insuring all livestock at minimum premium. Moreover, he said, a committee headed by ADC Kalakote will look into issue of electricity bills of nomadic families during their stay on higher reaches.

While giving directions for timely resolving issues raised by the public, the DDC impressed upon heads of various departments to hold field camps on regular basis to take stock of public issues and activate their field staff for better delivery of services to the public.

Meanwhile, the DDC conducted on the spot inspection of pace of work on development projects and asked executing agencies to fast track execution for their timely completion.

The DDC took stock of tourist facilities being developed at Tatapani, a hot water spring in Kalakote having healing properties. The place is visited by thousands of people especially those suffering from joint and bones pain and skin allergies for taking bath. The CEO RDA informed that around Rs 1.10 Cr project for creation of tourist Cafeteria, Changing facilities and security cabins is being executed at the place. The DDC directed for earlier completion of project for convenience of visitors. The project for development of artificial lake at Tatapani was also discussed and necessary directions were issued for finalisation of project.

Other projects inspected included Rs 2.94 core Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel, Rs 6 Cr Degree College building, Rs 3.9 Cr Dhanma bridge, Daali bridge, culverts, double laning of Rajouri-Kalakote-Siot road.

The DCC asked for early completion of finishing work at G&B Hostel so that it can be put to use. Students of tribal communities coming to Kalakote from far off areas for studies will be greatly benefited with opening of the hostel as it will save their time and resources.

It was informed that work on Daali bridge is held up since 2005 for want of shifting/heightening of 132 KV line passing over it. The DDC directed for convening a meeting of all stakeholders for resolving the issue. He also directed GREF representative to expedite work on culverts on the main road in Kalakote town and fill all potholes on Rajouri-Kalakote-Siot road for smooth flow of traffic besides macadamisation of remaining 4.5KM stretch of Kalakote-Siot road.

DDC also reviewed work progress on Dhanwa bridge which will provide connectivity over 700 souls of five different villages besides providing alternate road connectivity to Siot. Executing agencies were impressed upon to maintain quality while ensuring timely completion of the project.
