Shooter Deepak Kumar bags Silver medal in 18th Asian Games
 
Shooter Deepak Kumartoday bagged a Silver medal in the 18th Asian Games being held in Indonesia.This was India's second medal in Shooting and it now has 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1Bronze in its kitty. Deepak claimed the Silver in the Men's 10-metre Air Rifleevent with a score of 247.7 points. China took home the Gold, while ChineseTaipei won the Bronze. The other Indian in the event, Ravi Kumar ended at thefourth spot.

In women's 10-metreAir Rifle event, Apurvi Chandela has been eliminated in the final round after ashot of 9.8 as she finished fifth. China won the gold, Korea settled for silverwhile Mongolia won Bronze in the event.

Ravi and Apurvi hadclinched a Bronze medal in the Mixed Team category yesterday.

In Men's Trap,Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Lakshay are through to the final round. Both scored119 points to qualify for final.

In Women's Trap, SeemaTomar has been eliminated as she finished sixth with just 12 out of 25 shots.China claimed Gold, Korea bagged Silver while Lebanon took Bronze in thiscategory.

In Women's Wrestling,two Indian wrestlers have advanced to the semi-final round in their respectiveweight categories.

2014 Bronze medalwinner Vinesh Phogat seal a semi-final berth defeating Korea's Kim Hyungjoo11-NIL in the quarter-final of the women's freestyle 50kg category.

In Freestyle 57 kgcategory, Pooja defeated Uzbekistan's Nabira Esenbaeva 12-1 in thequarter-final and won on technical superiority with nine seconds to go.

Vinesh will now faceUzbekistan's Yakhshimuratova Dauletbike while Pooja will be up against Korea'sJong Myong Suk.

Rio Olympics Bronzemedalist Sakshi Malik will play her quarter-final match, in a short while from now.Sakshi defeated Salinee Srisombat of Thailand 10-NIL to advanced to thequarter-final of the 62kg category.

Meanwhile, In 53 kilocategory, Pinki lost to Mongolia's Sumiya Erdenechimeg 10-0 in the pre-quarterfinal. In men's Freestyle 125 kilogram category, Sumit Malik also lost toParviz Hadibasmanj of Iran 10-NIL.

Bajrang Punia hadgiven India its first Gold of the Games yesterday in the 65 kg division.

In Badminton, theIndian Women's team, spearheaded by PV Sindhu, lost to Japan in the quarterfinals3-1. The Men's team, led by Kidambi Srikanth, is currently facing Indonesia fora place in the semi-finals.

The Indian Men'sHockey team will begin its campaign with their opening Group-A match againstIndonesia in the evening. The Indian Women's team had thrashed Indonesia, 8-0in the opener.

Artistic Gymnastics,Tennis, Swimming, Rowing, Kabaddi and Taekwando are also among the events thatwill witness the Indian participation today.

With 1 Gold, 1 Silverand 1 Bronze, India is now 8th in the medals tally. China is at the top, withJapan second and South Korea third.
