NSF flays JU VC for crossing the red line, goes ahead to conduct interviews for important positions
Urges Chancellor to hold high level probe into recruitment scam by JUVC

Jammu: 25-Jan-18: (Correspondent)
As the days are nearing expiry of his tenure as Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Ramji Dass Sharma is restless to indulge into issues like holding interviews for prestigious positions of the university with the tacit intention to extend undue benefits to his remaining favourites, whom he appears to have committed to accommodate them during his three years tenure.
Dr. Vikas Sharma, Chief National Secular Forum expressed these views during a press conference held today to highlight the silly tendency of the VC to disobey the orders of the office Chief Minister issued through, Advisor to the Chief Minister vide communication dated 9-1-18 directing him (VC) to postpone the selection process and not to hold any interview in the University till his new successor occupies the chair of Vice Chancellor.

Castigating the irresponsible behavior of Prof R. D Sharma as emerged from a section of newspapers reporting, Dr. Vikas expressed his surprise to learn that the incumbent VC without taking cognizance of the directions of the government cleverly approached the Financial Advisor of the varsity for interviews of the posts of Assistant Register, Dy.Register, Controller of Examination, Register, Dir CDC, Administrator General Zorawar Singh Auditorium and Asstt Professors etc. Gross arrogance of Prof Sharma to flout directions of the Chief Minister's office was seriously taken by the government and the Higher Education Department issued strong directions by another communication of dated 24-1-18 snubbing Prof Ramji Dass Sharma to stop the selection process and interviews forthwith ,added Dr. Vikas.
Quoting one of the incidents of misusing the official position by Prof Ramji Dass Sharma during his tenure, Dr. Vikas said that the honesty of VC can be gauged from the fact that JU engaged three persons in the Department of Life Long Learning in the year 2008. Later on two persons were absorbed against two posts of Project Officers by VC and third person Sandeep Singh was absorbed ostensibly in lieu of pecuniary consideration against the post of a Programme Officer without conducting any interview for which 41 applications were received in the yearly 2013 by the University. Later on, the post of Programme Officer was converted into teaching cadre as Assistant Professor for the reasons best known to VC, he claimed.
Dr. Vikas said that besides several other irregularities committed by the incumbent Vice Chancellor, there seems to be a big hidden recruitment scam in university of Jammu taken place during his(VC) tenure and added that the latest hush manner in which selection process was being pushed through on high speed by Prof Sharma and that too grossly against the orders of the Chief Minister, should be an eye opener for the state government to launch high level independent enquiry against misuse of official position by Prof Ramji Dass Sharma for personal gains creating an atmosphere of nepotism and favoritism during his three tenure as Vice Chancellor, he alleged . Among those who were present in the press-conference included Manmohan Singh, Isqat Naik and Rishikesh Ran.
