JK Cements employees protest delay in salaries

Srinagar, Dec 12, (Agencies) JK Cements Employees Association on Wednesday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar demanding release of salaries pending for the last four months and implementation of 7th pay commission.
Scores of protesting employees of JK Cements assembled in Pratap Park and marched towards the press enclave, chanting slogans ‘We Want Juistice”.
Holding placards “Release our salary”, “Release our pending welfare fund”, “Provide budgetary support”, “Deposit our pending welfare fund”, and “Release our DA”, the protesting employees demanded the release of DA and implementation of 7th Pay Commission for its employees.
President of the Association, Abdul Majid said that their salary is pending for last four months. “We approached the management of JK cements to release our salary. It is unfortunate that nobody is listening our demands.”
“For the last 3 years, our CP Fund is deducted from our salaries, but has not been deposited in the CP Fund accounts. Rs 300 of Department Welfare Fund is regularly deducted from our account but amount is not getting deposited in the separate welfare fund account,” he said.
The protesters said that if the government is willing to keep JK Cements in running condition, financial assistance and budgetary support is inevitable. “Otherwise the company will come to grinding halt and near about 1000 employees will be rendered jobless.”
Requesting the Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter, the protesters threatened if their demands are not fulfilled, they will protest along with their family members in Jammu secretariat.
