Parliament washout: PM, BJP MPs observe day-long Fast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is observing a day-long fast today along with BJP MPs to protest the washout of the just concluded Budget Session of Parliament. The fast however will not affect PM's daily routine.

BJP President Amit Shah sat on a symbolic protest in Hubli in Karnataka and BJP MPs in their respective constituencies.

BJP party workers sat on day-long fast in Patna led by Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Union Health Minister J P Nadda will be in PM Modi's constituency Varanasi.

Union Minister Mahesh Sharma termed the disruptions created by Congress during the parliament session as shameful. He sought reasons from Congress for not allowing smooth proceedings when govt was ready to discuss all issues.

Party leaders Vijay Goel and Meenakshi Lekhi also staged a protest in Delhi.

Due to opposition uproar, Parliament could not function. 127 hours and 45 minutes were lost in Lok Sabha and 120 hours were lost in Rajya Sabha. 4% productivity was recorded in the Lok Sabha and 8% in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP said Congress is responsible for the ruckus and the party will expose it.

Party also elaborated on the Gram Swaraj campaign from 14th April to 5th May. It said: PM Modi will join the campaign from Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.

Clean India festival will be celebrated on 18th April.

On 20th April, Ujjwala day will be observed under which new connection through LPG Panchayats will be provided in several important villages across the country.

Panchayati Raj Diwas will be celebrated on 24th April. PM Modi will be in Jabalpur in Mahakaushal in Madhya Pradesh.

Gram Shakti campaign will be observed on 28th April during which an interaction will take place with the beneficiaries of Saubhagya yojana and LED bulbs distribution.

On 30th April, Ayushmaan Bharat Diwas will be observed.

On 2nd May, farmers welfare workshop will be organised which will focus on farmers empowerment and doubling their income.

On 5th May, skill development fairs will be organised for the workers society.

PM Modi spoke with the leaders and party workers about the campaign through audio bridge and said due to code of conduct barring 2 states, the campaign will take place throughout the country.

PM said: Through this campaign by BJP's representatives in the villages, for rural farmers and empowerment of poor, the party aims to fulfil the dreams and vision of social workers like Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Jyotiba Phule.

PM said that through this campaign that unites the country and the society, the party's representatives will reach out to all, the poor and the farmers too and will make sure that the benefits of all the government schemes and initiatives reach one and all.
