City Red Lifted Firy & Fury Winter Carnival Ice Hockey Cup
Indian Army Will Help Popularizing Such Games in Western Ladakh Region: Brigadier Naveen

In Jammu and Kashmir, City Red lifted the Ice Hockey Cup of the Fire & Fury’ Corps, ‘Forever In Ops’ Div Winter Carnival 2019 by defeating City Blue by 3 Goals at Bhimbhat Ice Hockey Rink Drass.

As part of ‘Sadhbhavna’ Initiative by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, ‘Fire & Fury’ Corps, ‘Forever In Ops’ Div Winter Carnival 2019 is going on in Drass and the Ice Hockey Tournament was part of this winter carnival.

The Ice Hockey Tournament was organized by Army in collaboration with the Civil Administration and Himalayan Sports and Cultural Development Organization, Drass.

On this occasion Brigadier Naveen Kumar Goel, Dy General Officer Commanding ‘Forever in Operations’ Division was the Chief Guest.

Appreciating the natural climate favorable for Ice Hockey in Drass Brig Naveen Kumar Goel, assured the players and locals that all efforts will be made by the Indian Army to further popularize Ice Hockey as a sport in the Western Ladakh region and appreciated the enthusiasm of participating teams in showcasing the sportsman spirit.

A Total of Eight teams from Drass participated in this tournament. The winners & runners ups will be felicitated during ‘Closing Ceremony’ of ‘Winter Carnival 2019’ on 18 Feb 2019

While talking Media International Players Mohammad Iqbal Junior and Zia Ul Haq told that its Indain Army who has supported the youths of this region to excel in this sport and has helped them to represent Indai at International Level.

They urged upon the Chief of Army Staff to further boost the game in Drass by developing infrastructure like all weather Ice Hockey Rink, and supporting youths with Ice Hockey Equipments which are very costly to purchase by a poor youth.

The tournament is organized by the Army annually and has witnessed increased enthusiasm and participation amongst the local population over the years. The event concluded with locals of the area conveying their sincere gratitude toward Indian Army.
