Productive day in Parliament: 8 Bills introduced in Lok Sabha
 
New Delhi July 08:-
8 Bills introduced in Lok Sabha including DNA Technology regulation Bill and Unlawful activities prevention amendment Bill; Aadhaar and other laws amendment Bill and Dentist Amendment Bill passed in Rajya Sabha; Parliament begins discussion on the Budget.

Proceedings of both houses of the Parliament were in full swing on Monday. In the lower house, discussions were held on recently announced Union Budget and 8 bills were also introduced, while two important bills were passed in the Rajya Sabha.

The bills that were introduced in the Lok Sabha included the DNA Technology Regulation Bill, The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill, The National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill.

The NIA (Amendment) Bill, seeks to further strengthen the National Investigation Agency (NIA) by giving it powers to probe terror attacks targeting Indians and Indian interests on foreign soil

While the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill, seeks to allow an individual suspected to have terror links to be designated as a 'terrorist'.

The others bills introduced in the Lok Sabha were the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill, the Consumer Protection Bill, the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Amendment Bill, the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, and the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill.

Post lunch, the lower house held discussions on the Union Budget. In World Cup season, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor used cricket analogy saying that the government was unnecessarily playing defensive strokes.

Meanwhile, the The Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, and Dentist Amendment Bill were passed in the Rajya Sabha. These bills have already been passed by the Lok Sabha.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister for external affairs, S. Jaishankar took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
