Odisha govt appeals people to celebrate Raja festival indoor

Odisha14 June 2021(agencies)
The Odisha government has appealed to people to celebrate the Raja festival indoors. ‘Raja’- a three days long agrarian festival- is being celebrated across the state beginning today. However, while the state-wide lockdown continues, the state government has asked people to celebrate the festival at home to further break the chain of the viral transmission.

Raja is a typical odia festival with public swings being the chief outdoor attraction. However with the state still in the grip of the second wave of the pandemic, the state government has asked people to celebrate the festival at home with strict adherence to covid-19 protocols. Meanwhile the state government has rejected a viral news on lockdown as fake and has said that it has not issued any such guidelines on lockdown and unlocking. The current phase of the statewide lockdown is effective till the morning of the 17th of this month with the state government likely to take a call on any unlocking in a day or two.
