PM Modi to inaugurate Kishanganga Hydel power project tomorrow
JK to get only 13 percent free power from 330MW Kishanganga project
 
Srinagar, May 18 (Agencies): Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to arrive Srinagar tomorrow will inaugurate Kishanganga Hydel Power Project tomorrow.
Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that 330MW Kishanganga Hydel Power Project on which the work was started in the year 2007 has been built at an estimated cost of six thousand crores by National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC).
The Power project comprising three turbines is spread over 750 kanals in Karalpora Matrigam and 4200 kanals in Gurez area where from the water comes through a tunnel measuring 23.5 kilometers.
Sources said that 13 percent of the 330MW Power project will go to Jammu and Kashmir completely free but rest of the 87 percent of the project will be utilized by the National Power Grid Corporation. Under the project one percent of the total revenue that will be generated from the project has to be spent on the developmental works in the areas where the families displaced by the construction of the Power project have been rehabilitated.
