The students are aware of the country's rich cultural traditions and try to revive its glorious past, as the country had no start-up ecosystem. Before 2014, there were only around 400-500 start-ups. Today this number has exceeded 70 thousand. Government has urged the youth to innovate, develop new technologies and set up companies, research establishments and start-ups in the country for a strong and self-reliant “New India New ideas”.
However India ranks globally 3rd in Start-Up ecosystem and also in terms of number of Unicorns. As per the latest data, there are currently 105 unicorns, out of which 44 were born in 2021 and 19 in 2022. The decade 2021-30 is expected to bring transformational changes for Indian Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).
India has created a massive jump in its global ranking of Global Innovation Index (GII) from 81st in the year 2015 to 46th in 2021 among 130 economies of the world. India ranks 2nd among 34 lower middle-income economies and 1st among 10 Central and Southern Asian economies in terms of GII.
India is among the topmost countries in the world in the field of scientific research, positioned as one of the top five nations in the field for space exploration and also actively engaged in emerging technologies such as quantum technologies, artificial intelligence etc.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Modi’s launch of StartUp India from the ramparts of Red Fort in 2015 India in its 75th year of Independence is now home to as many as 75,000 Start-ups. Modi's special focus on Science, Technology and Innovation has fired the imagination of the youth in the country to innovate and solve problems with new ideas. He also pointed out that India’s start-ups today are not limited to only metros or big cities and added that 49 per cent of the start-ups are from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. He said, we have start-ups emerging in the fields like IT, agriculture, aviation, education, energy, and health and space sectors.
The world is recognizing the power of the country's young bright minds, big companies like Google, Microsoft, etc. At the same time Adobe and IB are hiring Indians in respectable positions. "If Indians can help grow big firms around the world, why can't the government set up top companies here?" The defence ministry also asked about 5,000 students to take stock of them and change the country. The growing potential of the Indian start-up ecosystem to attract more talent and bright minds of the youth. "Earlier, there was no start-up ecosystem in the country. Before 2014, there were only around 400-500 start-ups. Today this number has exceeded 75 thousand. Out of them, more than 100 have become unicorns. Recently Mr. Rajnath Singh advised the students to focus on acquiring wisdom rather than just acquiring knowledge from books. Acquiring knowledge from books is not enough. Hikmat ensures maximum utilization of this knowledge, which is vital to take the country to greater heights. It is free from limitations like disability, poverty, unemployment and backwardness. It broadens the scope of thinking and sensitivity. It helps a person to rise above selfishness and work for social, national and global welfare. The Defense Minister urged the students to be aware of the country's rich cultural traditions and try to revive its glorious past. India was a pioneer in many fields like science, economics, history, political science and public administration. The youth should bring the focus towards to get the trans formative change in the country for a strong and self-reliant with promotion the chapter of “New India New ideas” | | | |
