Man dies after allegedly being given high dose injection by chemist in Anantnag
 
Srinagar, Jan 30 : A 32-year old man died after a chemist allegedly gave him a high dose injection in Janglat Mandi area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag town.

Identifying the victim as Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Janglat Mandi area of Anantnag, the family members alleged that he went to a medical shop in the area with throat irritation where chemist gave him high dose injection without a test dose.

They said however following injection, he fell unconscious and was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The family members of Irfan who was a fruit vendor and is survived by wife, daughter and mentally unsound sister, have demanded investigation in this regard, besides strict action against chemists for selling drugs without prescription.

An official said that a case FIR number 44/ 2023 under section 304-A of IPC has been registered while investigation has been taken up.

He said the medical shop of the chemist was also sealed after the incident.

Meanwhile, on being contacting the said chemist, Ubaid Ahmad he said that the test douse and hydrocortisone were given to him following which he complained the vomitting thus forcing us to shift him the GMC where he initially treated by the doctors but breathed his last.
