Society has to be changed to stop the atrocities against women written by Ashok Raina

Despite having strict laws, there has been no decrease in crimes against women in India in the last six years, along with the increase in the incidents of impunity; the reporting of rape has also increased.

While competing openly as compared to the past however, there is a need for improvement in the society. From the period of 1st January 2012 to November 2020, there has been no decrease in the incidents of sexual violence against women and sexual assault in India, but the incidents of sexual assault are increasing day by day. Incidents that took place in Delhi on December 16, 2012, which is known as the Narbhaya incident, in which a two-year-old girl was killed after she had committed rape, after the amendment in the laws related to rape, made this law more stringent.

The age of men's adulthood was reduced from 18 years to 16 years; while death law was passed against those involved in rape, however, despite this strict law, there has been no reduction in the incidents of rape in India. In the program Samaj ke doo rukh organized by ETV, it has been revealed that since 2012, there has been an increase in the incidents of sexual assault, beside there has also been an increase in reports related to rape in these six years.

In the meantime, it was said that there are more such incidents in India than the statistics regarding sexual assault and people, especially the affected girls and women, often remain silent due to the fear of losing respect in the society. In the programme, Lucknow's social worker Tahrah Hussain is fighting for the welfare of women and Dr. Mbeen Tahrah, a social worker from Delhi who has done a lot of work for women, believes that there has been no decrease in crimes against women in six years but are increasing day by day.

Women are neither safe in the bus nor in the train, neither in the house nor outside the house, neither in the office nor in the school and college. It has been told in the program that there has been an increase of 83 percent in the reporting of incidents of sexual violence against women. But women don't remain silent but are raising their voice against the atrocities.

During this, it was said that on one hand, slogans are being raised that save daughters, educate daughters, and on the other hand, innocent girls are made victims of sexual lust. The society should be united against this and till the time the society does not grow, there will be no decrease in crimes against women.

The people are becoming irresponsible, the people and the society, by showing their responsibility, should take a stand against such black hearted people who consider women as a source of entertainment and humiliate them again and again. Women also have an equal right to live and society has to give them their right. As we say that “Society has to be changed to stop the atrocities against women.”
