Voter turnout crosses 74 % in Rajasthan Assembly Elections | | | Rajasthan November 26:- In Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly polling yesterday, a tentative figure of voting of nearly 75 per cent was reported. Voters from 199 Assembly Constituencies participated enthusiastically in the elections. As part of the Election Commission of India's initiative to inspire young voters to participate in the festival of democracy, 1,592 Polling Stations were set up in the state which were managed by the youngest available staff.
In a unique initiative, students had put up stalls depicting the cultural heritage of Rajasthan including food, GI tagged products, wildlife, forts and many more. The festive atmosphere was witnessed as people dressed in traditional attire visited the vibrant and colourful polling stations to cast their votes. Newly married couples, PwDs, women and Third Gender voters, tribals and the youth turned out in big numbers to the 51,890 polling stations set up across the State.
Eight all-women managed polling stations, eight All-Youth Managed Polling Stations and one PwD Managed Polling Station were set up per Assembly Constituency. For the first time in Rajasthan, a home voting facility was introduced for 80 plus senior citizens and PwDs. Over 61,000 senior citizens and PwD voters cast their vote from the comfort of their homes, which is 99 per cent of those who had applied for the facility. Selfie booths were set up at the polling stations and were frequented by first time voters and senior voters alike. Polling in Karanpur Assembly Constituency had been adjourned due to the death of a candidate.
