Top panel recommends downsizing of security staff at DGP’s Jammu residence
 
Srinagar, Mar 31 : A high-level team comprising CO IRP 12 BN Rashmi Wazir, SSP security Jammu Shamsher Hussain and Director Police Telecommunications Manoj Pandita has recommended downsizing of the security staff of DGP’s Jammu residence.

According to details available with Press J&K police is currently under intense pressure to mobilise more personnel to meet its elections requirements as well as to implement the ambitious zero terror plan meant to improve security for the common man has embarked upon the new approach of introducing technology including CCTV, security related physical infrastructure like better perimeter protection and stitching these to human resources with intelligently designed SOPs.

The committee listed out an exhaustive list of all possible threats based on inputs, past evidence and a tailored solution has been worked out to mitigate the risk to the bare minimum possible.

Sources said the committee recommended downsizing of the deployed security personnel by almost 1/3rd, and DGP RR Swain has also given a go ahead.

Recently, this security wing of Jammu and Kashmir police had submitted a report stating that about 25,000 police personnel have been diverted from Thanas and other wings police such as Crime Branch, CID, Armed Police, Training Institutions, Traffic Wing, to provide PSOs, residence guards, and armed escorts to various protected persons belonging to political parties, media, senior government functionaries, judicial authorities, retired government officers.

DGP Swain, as per reports, has also asked his PSOs to double up as residential guard at his Srinagar residence to relieve the CRPF personnel to meet the shortfall in view of the upcoming elections.
