Israel’s war on Gaza updates: 83 killed in unrelenting Israeli attacks
UN says 800,000 people have fled Rafah as Israel kills dozens in Gaza

GAZA MAY 19:-
Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours have killed at least 83 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip.
Hamas says Palestinians will continue to confront the ground invasion of Rafah and other places in Gaza “no matter how long the aggression lasts and regardless of its form”.
More than 800,000 people have now fled Israel’s advance on southern Rafah with another 100,000 escaping from the ground assault on the north.
At least 35,386 people have been killed and 79,366 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s attack is 1,139 with dozens still held captive.
Israel’s lawyers have told the United Nations top court that the country has the right to move ahead with a full-scale offensive on Rafah in southern Gaza to defend itself against Palestinian group Hamas after South Africa filed an urgent request to order a ceasefire as part of a wider case accusing Israel of genocide.

“The fact remains that the city of Rafah also serves as a military stronghold for Hamas, which continues to pose a significant threat to the state of Israel and its citizens,” Gilad Noam, Israel’s deputy attorney general for international law, told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague on Friday.
“Since the war in Gaza began, Palestinians have been forced to flee multiple times in search of safety that they have never found, including in UNRWA shelters,” Lazzarini said.

“When people move, they are exposed, without safe passage or protection. Every time, they are forced to leave behind the few belongings they have:  mattresses, tents, cooking utensils and basic supplies that they cannot carry or pay to transport.

“Every time, they have to start from scratch, all over again. ”

Saturday saw intense fighting across Gaza – not just in Rafah – with Israeli attacks killing dozens of Palestinians.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said early in the day that 83 Palestinians had been killed over the previous 24 hours.

Later on Saturday, Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Ismail Alghoul reported that 40 bodies had reached the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza after Israel bombed the Jabalia refugee camp. At least 15 people were killed in one attack.
