Significant milestone in the nation's history the 78th Independence Day 2024

Independence Day 2024: India is set to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on Thursday, August 15, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the nation's history. This day commemorates India's liberation from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947, following a prolonged struggle for freedom.
Independence Day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who fought tirelessly for the country's independence. The first official celebration of this day took place in 1948, signaling the dawn of a new era for India.
Each year, the nation reflects on its journey since independence, celebrating not only its achievements but also the rich cultural diversity that defines India. The day is also an occasion to acknowledge the progress the country has made over the decades.
The theme for this year's celebrations is "Viksit Bharat," or "Developed India," which aligns with the Indian government's vision to transform the nation into a developed country by 2047, coinciding with the centenary of independence.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi was a major political and spiritual leader of India who led the country in the non-cooperation movement in 1922 and Salt march in 1930 and later in Quit India movement in 1942 during its struggle for independence.
Mahatma Gandhi shaped India’s independence and his Satyagraha and non-violent movement against British Rule in India became an inspiration for the masses. He demanded a greater voice for Indians in the British government and administration. He moved forward with his brand of Satyagraha and started the movement at Champran, Bihar, which later spread throughout the country.
Gandhi led three Satyagraha movements in his initial days, i.e., Champaran Satyagraha in 1917, Kheda Satyagraha in 1918, and Ahmadabad ,Mill strike in 1918, Khilafat Movemen,1919,Non-Cooperation Movement ,1920, Dandi March,1930 ,Gandhi Irwin Pact,1931 and Quit India Moveme1942The greatest lesson he provided us during the freedom struggle was to never give up or prefer violence to make ourselves succeed
Revolutionary freedom fighters,Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru willingly laid down their lives for their motherland as they wanted to inspire their brethren through their sacrifice. They were all less than 25 years old when they died for Bharat.
The trio – Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru – were great patriots. They were directly guided by Chandra Shekhar Azad and indirectly by Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
It must be remembered that independence was not attained by non-violence alone. It was not just Gandhi ji who fought for independence and got freedom for India. The violent struggles of Rash Behari Bose, Subhas Chandra Bose, Veer Damodar Savarkar, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru were equally helpful in getting freedom for Bharat.Let us never forget that independence was attained because of the contribution of multiple freedom fighters with different ideologies.
The great freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev,Thapar were hanged to death by the British government for their activities on March 23, 1931, at the Lahore Jail. This day is observed as 'Martyrs' Day' in India.
Independence Day 2024: What is the theme this year? As India celebrates its 78th Independence Day, the government of India has announced the theme for this year is Viksit Bharat or Developed India. It symbolizes the vision of a developed nation by 2047 and reflects the government's commitment to transform India.
