Explosive device recovered in Rajouri, destroyed | | | Rajouri, Oct 7: Ahead of the counting of votes for assembly elections, security forces on Monday recovered a pressure-activated explosive device from an area alongside a link road in Saranoo village. The site of recovery is located approximately fifteen kilometers from the Rajouri district headquarters. Official sources stated that a team of the army and police was on an area domination patrol in Saranoo village when they noticed a suspicious object lying alongside the road.
The personnel raised the alarm and closed the road, laying a cordon. Reinforcements were then rushed in, and senior officers from the army and police, including the Special Operations Group (SoG), arrived at the site.
Official sources reported that the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to examine the recovered object, which was found to be a pressure-initiated explosive device (mine IED).
The device was later destroyed on-site through a controlled mechanism.
Dr G.D. Bakshi, a local civil society member, hailed the prompt action of the forces in recovering this explosive device, thereby averting a possible terror attack. | | | |
