Srinagar, Oct 20: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, said on Sunday that three non-local laborers were killed in a terrorist attack on camp housing workers of a private company involved in tunnel construction at Gund in Ganderbal district.
The top cop told the three laborers were transported to the hospital after being fired upon by terrorists, but they succumbed to their injuries.
"The incident took place in a densely forested area, but security forces have swiftly reached the location and cordoned off the area," he said.

The death toll in the Ganderbal terror attack has reached to three, as another injured labourer succumbed to his wounds.
A senior police officer said that another injured labourer succumbed in a Srinagar hospital, bringing the total toll to three.
He said that five labourers sustained critical injuries after militants opened fire on them in the Gaganger area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district this evening.
He stated the injured labourers were working on a tunnel project.
Soon after the incident the injured were evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment, however, two were declared dead on arrival.
The entire area has been cordoned off and searches are being conduct to nab the attackers, he said.
According to reports, a total of five labourers were injured in the attack, including Gurmeet Singh (30), son of Dharam Singh, from Punjab; Inder Yadav (35), son of Gareeb Dass, from Bihar; Mohan Lal (29), son of Somnath, from Kathua; Fayaz Ahmad Lone (26), son of Zahoor Ahmad Lone, from Preng Kangan; and Jagtar Singh (30), son of Surah Singh, from Kathua.
The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack in a post on X, stating, “Very sad news of a dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local labourers at Gagangeer in the Sonamarg region. These people were working on a key infrastructure project in the area. Two have been killed, and two to three more have been injured in this militant attack. I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and send my condolences to their loved ones,” he said.
In another tweet, Omar stated, “The casualty figure from the Gagangeer attack is not final, as a number of injured labourers, both local and non-local, are still being treated. I pray that the injured make a full recovery as the more seriously injured are being referred to SKIMS, Srinagar,” he said.
