Srinagar-New Delhi rail service to begin on January 26

Srinagar, Dec 16 : The Kashmir Valley will soon be connected to the rest of India by rail for the first time in its history. The long-awaited Srinagar-New Delhi rail link, which has been under construction for over two decades, is set to become a reality. The much-anticipated Vande Bharat train service between New Delhi and Srinagar will be inaugurated on January 26, 2025.

This announcement has brought joy to the people of Kashmir, who have waited for years to have direct rail access to the rest of the country. The completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link, as mentioned by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, has been celebrated by various communities, including businessmen, students, tourists, and workers.

The tourism industry, in particular, is excited about the new rail link. Kashmir is a popular tourist destination, and the rail service will make it more affordable and convenient for visitors.
"This is a welcome step and a historic development. The train service will boost tourism and many other sectors in Kashmir," said Manzoor Pakhtoon, President of the Houseboat Association.

The business community has also expressed great enthusiasm, calling the rail link a game changer. Many believe it will open new opportunities for growth in both business and tourism.

With this new connection, Kashmir is expecting a tourism boom, as the train service will operate year-round, making it easier for people to visit during all seasons—summer, winter, spring, and autumn.

The Srinagar-New Delhi rail link promises to be a life-changing experience for travellers and will help the region grow economically.
