J&K braces for moderate to heavy rain, gusty winds | | | Srinagar, May 30: The Meteorological Department in Srinagar on Friday predicted moderate to heavy rainfall along with gusty winds across Jammu and Kashmir for the next eight days, from May 30 to June 6. According to the forecast, on May 30 and 31, moderate to intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds are predicted at a few places. However, most places in J&K will experience cloudy weather, possibly with a spell of light to moderate rain at a few locations. From June 4 to 6, J&K will witness generally dry weather, with a brief spell of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the late afternoon at isolated places.
In an advisory, the Meteorological Department cautioned people about the possibility of “flash floods at isolated places” due to intense showers. It also warned of the possibility of landslides/mudslides at a few locations.
Advising people to keep their distance from vulnerable areas, a MeT official said, “Stay away from loose structures, electric poles, cables, old trees, etc.
