Ganeshotsav Procession: Teen Dies, Six Injured After Firecracker Explodes Near Bengaluru
 
BANGLORE AUGUST 31;-
A mishappening during the Ganeshotsav procession near Bengaluru claimed a life, while six others have sustained injuries. The festive Ganesha immersion procession turned deadly after firecrackers exploded from a moving forklift, killing a 15-year-old and injuring six others near Bengaluru.
The firecracker had exploded from a moving vehicle while scores of people gathered around it to participate in the idol immersion of lord Ganesha. The devastating incident resulted in the tragic death of a class 10th student while six others, including a police constable, were injured.
- According to a report by te Times of India, the incident occurred around 6 pm on Friday when a 15-year-old S Tanush Rao from Muttur, Doddaballapur, was seated close to a box of firecrackers that had been placed behind the driver’s seat of a forklift transporting the idol.
-The forklift was in motion for the last two hours before the incident occurred, causing heat to build up near the cracker-filled box, which triggered an explosion.
- Tanush Rao succumbed to his injuries later in the day, as he had sustained serious injuries.
Others, who were injured in the deadly incident, have been identified as Ganesh (16), Yogesh (15), Nagaraju (35), Chetan (age not disclosed), and police constable Zakir Hussain. Muniraju also sustained serious injuries.
Authorities have raised alarm over a growing trend of using forklifts in festival processions, particularly during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. These industrial vehicles, designed for controlled environments like warehouses, are being repurposed to carry large idols.
