Army Colonel Arrested in Himachal Pradesh Espionage Case | | | Solan OCTOBER 02:- The police in Himachal Pradesh have detained a senior Army officer from Dehradun as part of an espionage investigation linked to the Dagshai cantonment in Solan district.
The officer, currently holding the rank of Colonel, is accused of utilizing several false identities and is believed to have connections with Pakistani intelligence during his previous role as a Lieutenant Colonel. This arrest stems from a complaint lodged on July 6 at the Dharampur police station by a fellow Army officer from the same unit. The complaint alleges that Colonel Abhay Pisal possessed counterfeit identity documents, including Aadhaar, PAN, ration cards, and a driving license, all issued under fictitious names like “Tahir Mustafa” and “Vijay Singh.” Additionally, authorities discovered an unlicensed 12 bore single-barrel shotgun in his possession, raising further concerns. An internal investigation by defense officials last year led to the recovery of the weapon and various forged documents, prompting police to file charges under IPC Sections 420, 467, and 468 for cheating and forgery, as well as under Section 25 of the Arms Act.
Discovery of Duplicate Identity Documents
Investigations indicate that Colonel Pisal had created duplicate government-issued identity cards with identical numbers but different aliases. Recovered items included standard IDs and an armed forces identity card. Solan SP Gaurav Singh stated that the legitimacy of these documents is currently being evaluated.
