LOAN PROFILE OF KP AND POK MIGRANTS WRITTEN BY ASHOK RAINA

Who were the people given loans in the name of Kashmiri migrants? Will the government ever investigate this, or will it continue to suppress the matter and do injustice to needy youth?

There are many doubts arising in public circles about how much the government is regarding the loan waiver and how much unemployment it has been successful in eliminating within the Kashmiri uprooted migrants.

On the basis of anonymity some youth among Kashmiri pandits have alleged that the concerned departments have shown extreme negligence in the loan matter and the business shown by the people is not visible in the present times anywhere to whom in favor of the loans have been provided and sanctioned.

Some people have also alleged that loans were sanctioned in favor of those who were never displaced from their homes and the government should have ordered an investigation to find out to what extent this is true, but till now the government has not taken any concrete action in this matter while the needy youth are still seen wandering aimlessly and if this has happened then it cannot be ruled out that there could be a huge scandal regarding the subsidy given on loans.

Importantly, during the investigation, the investigating team should not overlook the extent to which the borrower's business has grown since receiving the loan and the amount of profit claimed to the government when filing income tax returns. Furthermore, there are several other issues that, if investigated, could reveal the full identity of officials who failed to investigate the current status of the borrower's business, both during and after the loan disbursement.

It is important to note which officials are responsible for disbursing loans, how much of the loans given to people have been recovered so far, how many people have been denied loans without any reason, and the educational qualifications and standards of those in whose favor loans have been disbursed should also be thoroughly and properly investigated.

It is even being heard that the governments had taken some well-known steps to create self-employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and to help them stand on their own feet, and had also sanctioned huge sums of money. However, the nature and manner of the loans that were subsequently dispersed can only be known after an investigation.

It is also important to note that no one can access information about what investigation teams are doing to check the lender's profile and what details a lender has provided in the profile on the basis of which loans have been disbursed to them.

If the government really takes this matter seriously, then we can certainly expect good and positive results and a better picture of the lender's debt profile.
