Assembly polls results: TRS sweeps in Telangana, MNF wins in Mizoram

Congress is on course to a two-third majority in Chhattisgarh as results of Assembly elections in the state, as well as Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, continue to pour in.

Results of all Assembly seats in Telangana and Mizoram have been declared.

In Telangana, ruling TRS of K Chandershekar Rao swept to power once again, getting a two-third majority.

Congress is locked in a neck-and-neck contest with BJP in Madhya Pradesh. Congress was, however, dislodged from power in Mizoram.

The loss has led to the fall of the only citadel of the grand old party in North East India.

The prominent winners are Chief Ministers of all the states except Mizoram.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan won from Budhni constituency, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh emerged a winner from Rajnandgaon seat.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje tasted victory in Jhalarapatan constituency, defeating her nearest Congress rival Manvendra Singh, who is former Union Minister Jaswant Singh's son.

Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandershekar Rao was declared winner from Gajwel seat. He defeated Congress rival Pratap Reddy by over 51 thousand votes.

Chief Minister of Mizoram Lalthanhawla lost both the seats that he contested on. He was defeated by T. J Lalnuntluanga of MNF in Champhai South constituency and also lost Serchip seat to Independent Lalduhoma.

In 119-member Telangana Assembly, TRS returned to power with 88 seats. Congress won 19 seats, TDP 2 seats and Assaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM 7 seats. BJP and others bagged two each.

In 40-member Mizoram Assembly, Mizo National Front (MNF) bagged 26 seats, Congress 5 and BJP one seat. Eight Independents have also won
