President, Vice President greet nation on eve of harvest festival | | | New Delhi April 13(Agencies) President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted the nation on the eve of Vaisakhi, Vishu, Rongali Bihu, Naba Barsha, Vaisakhadi and Puthandu Pirappu. In his message, Mr Kovind said these harvest festivals are a celebration of the hard work and efforts of farmers.
He said festivals present a glimpse of India’s rich and diverse culture. The President hoped that this joyous occasion inspires people to do their best for the nation’s progress and to strengthen fraternity among people across various regions of the country.
President Ram Nath Kovind has also greeted people on the eve of birthday of Dr. BR Ambedkar. In his message, Mr Kovind said Dr. Ambedkar was an outstanding leader of the country's freedom struggle and a staunch crusader for the rights of the downtrodden.
He said Dr. Ambedkar envisioned a society where the weaker sections, historically deprived, peasants, labourers, and, especially women, get equal rights and respect. The President stated that the path shown by him strengthens the spirit of fraternity, compassion and equity.
He asked people to pledge to learn from Dr. Ambedkar’s life and thoughts, and follow his teachings.
In his message, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said these festivals which celebrate the birth of a new year, serve as harbingers of a better quality of life.
He added that they are a true reflection of the richness and the diversity of Indian culture and a testament to the deep reverence country's civilization has for nature. | | | |
