Cyclone Fani to hit Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on April 30 | | | New Delhi April 28(Agencies) Indian Meteorological Department says, Cyclonic storm 'Fani' to further intensify into a "severe cyclonic storm", very likely to reach near the coasts of north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh by the evening of April 30; Cyclone Fani currently lays over east Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, around 1000 km south east of Chennai.
The Cyclone Fani, formed in south-east Bay of Bengal and adjoining Indian Ocean, is set to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm. It is expected to further intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm by Monday. It is currently moving in a north-west direction.
It has been travelling at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour in the last six hours. It is set to move in a North West direction till Tuesday, and thereafter recurve northeastwards.
Many places in Kerala are expected to get light to moderate rain on Monday and Tuesday, with heavy rainfall at a few places.
