Militant, two forces’ personnel killed in ongoing Tral gunfight
 
Srinagar 24 April (Agencies)
A militant and two forces’ personnel were killed in clashes with the militants in Lam forest area of Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday. Two more army personnel have been injured in the firefight.
A top police official said that a soldier and a policeman were injured in the initial round of fire with the militants.
Both the injured were shifted to a hospital where they succumbed.
The deceased soldier was identified as Ajay Kumar of 42 RR. Police identified the slain cop as Latief Gojri.
He said the militants fled from the area after the initial bout of firing today morning.


However, contact was again established with the militants in the forest area. “In the ensuing gunfight, a militant was killed,” said the official, adding that his identity is being established.
Earlier, reports had said that the militants, believed to be three in number, managed to escape towards upper forest area.
A search operation was jointly launched by the army, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF to nab the militants.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in main town Tral after youth hurled rocks at a forces' vehicle. The forces responded by firing tear gas.
