Dubai Bus Accident: 8 Indians among 17 dead in the bus crash | | | Dubai June 07(agencies) At least 17 people died and several others were injured when a tourist bus travelling from Oman met with an accident in Dubai on Thursday evening
The Indian Consulate in a tweet has confirmed that eight people out of the 17 who died in the Dubai bus accident were Indians.
The Indian Consulate official said that Four Indians were discharged after the first aid treatment while three others are still being treated for their injuries. The Consulate in a tweet has expressed "sincere condolences to the families of those who passed away in this tragic accident".
Consul General Vipul along with other officials and community members met the concerned relatives as well as hospital and police authorities late in the night to assure of all help.
According to the Dubai police, the bus was carrying 31 passengers of different nationalities, who were reportedly returning after the Eid celebrations in Oman. The police said, the bus crashed into a signboard at Al Rashidiya exit towards the metro station. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
The Oman government-owned bus company has suspended their daily services between Muscat and Dubai until further notice. | | | |
