Bihar flood situation improves further

In Bihar, the flood situation has further improved as now only ten districts are flood affected.

According to Disaster Management Department, a population of 12.48 lakh in 870 villages in these districts are still affected due to floods.

The discharge from Kosi and Gandak Barrages are also reduced.

About 1.3 lakh cusecs of water is currently being discharged from the Kosi barrage, while the discharge from Gandak barrage has come down to 1 lakh cusecs.

As many as 7.5 lakh people are being provided two-square meals through 130 community kitchens.

5 teams of NDRF and 7 teams of SDRF are still engaged in relief works.

Some cases of viral fever have been registered from the areas where flood water has receded.

A gratuity relief of 518 Crore rupees have been distributed to 8.6 lakh families at the rate of Rs. 6000 per family.

Meanwhile, the widespread rain has been recorded across the state.

Kosi, Baghmati and Burhi Gandak rivers are still above the danger level in a couple of places in Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, Samastipur and Katihar.

The water level of the river Ganga is below the danger level all along its course in Bihar.

The met office has predicted light to medium rainfall in the catchment areas of the river in Bihar.
