Prominent Maratha community leader Vinayak Mete dies in road accident in Raigad, Maharashtra
 
Mumbai August 14:-
Prominent Maratha community leader Vinayak Mete died in a road accident in Raigad district of Maharashtra early this morning. The mishap occurred on the Mumbai- Pune Expressway near Madap tunnel between Panvel and Khalapur.

Mete was returning to Mumbai when his car collided with an oncoming car. Mete, along with his bodyguard and driver, were rushed to a hospital in Navi Mumbai where he succumbed to the injuries. His driver and bodyguard are undergoing treatment in the same hospital.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis rushed to the hospital immediately after hearing the news. Leader of Opposition in state legislative assembly Ajit Pawar expressed shock over the incident and condoled the death of the leader.

Several other leaders including NCP chief Sharad Pawar and congress leader Ashok Chavan have also expressed grief on the demise of Mete, who was a former member of the legislative council.
