| J&K: ECI notifies schedule of Special Summary Revision Of Electoral Rolls with reference to 1st October 2022 as qualifying date | | | |  New Delhi August 17:-
In the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir the Election Commission of India has notified the schedule of Special Summary Revision Of Electoral Rolls with reference to 1st October, 2022 as the qualifying date.
Media reports that during addressing a press conference in Jammu on Wednesday, Chief Electoral Officer, J&K Hirdesh Kumar said that there is an opportunity for youth attaining 18 years as on 1st October, 2022 or earlier to become part of voters list in Jammu & Kashmir. He said that new user friendly forms have been prepared for voter registration and a provision has been made in the modified registration forms for linking Aadhaar number with Electoral Roll Data.
Hirdesh Kumar said that Voter I- Cards will be issued to the voters which will be having updated security features. About holding Assembly elections in J&K, the CEO said that the decision is to be taken by the Chief Election Commissioner. He said that whenever elections are held in J&K, 600 new polling stations will be set up and there will be a total number of 11,370 polling stations. He further said that Integrated draft electoral rolls will be published on 15th September, 2022 and the claims and objections will be filed between 15th September to 25th October, 2022 while the final publication of electoral rolls will be made on 25th November, 2022.
Hirdesh Kumar further stated that at present the pre-revision activities, as well as post delimitation, follow up work is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, wherein the existing electoral roll of the Union Territory are being mapped into newly delimited assembly constituencies as per the Delimitation Commission’s final order made applicable by the Union Law Ministry from 20th May, 2022 | | | | |
