Describing forced, fraudulent and luring conversion as a dangerous game in the country, the central government fails to take the steps to stop it. Religious freedom does not mean that someone should be pressured to convert. Religious freedom is a separate thing and forced conversion is illegal and a crime. Forced conversion of religion can pose a threat to national security and citizens. Can affect religious freedom, the Supreme Court of India has already asked the Centre to make sincere efforts to tackle this "very serious" problem. If conversion is done through fraud, inducement and intimidation would create a "very difficult situation" would arise.

it is better for the Central Government to make its stand clear and respond to allegations of coercion, inducement or fraud by the Union and, or others. It gave the Center till November 22, 2022 to file its reply on the matter and fixed the matter for hearing on November 28. The apex court was hearing a petition filed by advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay. It was requested to direct the Centre and the states to "intimidation through threats, fraudulent gifts and monetary benefits". Upadhyay said in his petition that forced religious conversion is a nationwide problem which Urgent action is needed. "The injury to the citizens is enormous as there is not a single district that is free from conversion by 'hook and crook'." "Such incidents are reported every week across the country."There are places where conversions are done by intimidation, by the lure of gifts and financial benefits and by resorting to black magic, superstition, miracles, but the Centre and the states have not taken strong steps to stop this scourge," the petition said, the petition seeks a report to the Law Commission of India as well as a bill to control conversion through intimidation and monetary benefits hence the forced conversion is crime .
